The only reason to love the month of December is the festive season! We accompany you in this magical period by revealing all the 2021 decoration trends of the Parisian department stores and our advice to have a cocooning interior this winter.
Christmas 2021 is meant to be original. The desire to meet up and celebrate joyful moments is taking precedence over the health crisis, and it is important to take care of the decoration of one's interior. This year, red is back, but this time in more neutral tones, particularly carmine red, to promote naturalness. This colour goes very well with olive green and wood to give a very natural tone.
The idea is to decorate without being heavy-handed to keep the Christmas spirit without overdoing it. Forget the kitschy colours and go for a sober and harmonious decoration with a festive touch: beige, khaki, white and transparent will make a perfect mix without forgetting the introduction of greenery, plants and pine branches.
Colourful baubles, fancy ornaments, glittering stars and snowflakes have their place on the Christmas tree. The best decorations are not only attractive, they are also durable.
Always a safe bet, you won't be disappointed with a theme of gold/white/wood or silver/white/wood/transparent. We find these combinations every year and we always love them!
For our agencies, we opt for a particular theme, discover it on our instagram account.
Ceramic, glass and small, sober garlands in warm colours will be part of the 2021 festivities. Golden brass remains a great trend over the years, we can even call it indispensable. Wood is just as important, it brings that natural and bohemian touch to our interiors, as do thick, warm and cosy wool textures, woven elements, baskets... all the artisanal details.
Let's not forget an indispensable element: Christmas candles, which can be in different forms (natural or LED). They can be used to decorate the fireplace, the table, the tree, the windows and other objects. They make a nice light addition to your decor. This decorative element has a comforting effect, giving hope in this very complicated health situation. This is also the spirit of Christmas: hope 🌟
On the left bank we find the Bon Marché and on the right bank the Samaritaine, the BHV Marais, the Printemps and the Galeries Lafayette.
Let's start with the magnificent Dior boutique on the Champs-Elysées, known for its magnificent decorations every year, we've fallen for the 2021 version!
Galeries Lafayette Haussmann has teamed up with Atelier Bournillat for their 2021 Christmas window displays. The theme of this edition: 1,2,3 Noël!
The adventure begins with the awakening of the toys who embark on a tour full of surprises aboard Santa's sleigh. Under the majestic dome of the department stores', the huge Christmas tree comes to life every 30 minutes for everyone's pleasure. A novelty that is also very popular: Father Christmas descending from the dome! When we are at the top of the galleries, the view and the architecture of this magnificent shop can only make us dream...
This year, experience the Christmas windows of Printemps Haussmann. They present a Christmas tale put into images by the illustrator Aurélia Fronty. In this tale, Santa's factory is stopped because of a snowstorm. The elves therefore set out to find a new workshop and the amazed spectators follow them in their adventures told in 6 scenes such as the flight over the Printemps dome, the elaboration of the mythical Chanel n°5 perfume or the creation of iconic Prada pieces... will the elves succeed in their mission?
For the end of the year, the BHV Marais is putting Switzerland in the spotlight in its Christmas windows with the theme "Christmas at the top"!
On the programme: magic, eco-responsibility, the Chalet des Marmottes to taste good cheese in all its forms (by the slice, in sandwiches, in fondue)... The famous Swiss chocolate brand Lindt is also present at the BHV Marais Observatory. Something to feast your eyes and taste buds on!
The Bon Marché Rive Gauche is decked out in its most beautiful decorations and invites young and old to discover its animated shop windows. This year, it's the gingerbread man Aristide (whose name pays tribute to the founder of the Bon Marché Rive Gauche). The animated and musical windows of the only department stores' on the Left Bank are filled with gingerbread men and candy canes. Go there at the right time to meet one of the 5 mascots who distribute candy canes to children.
An event that we have been waiting for for 15 years: the return of the Samaritaine's Christmas windows. This iconic department stores' in central Paris, which reopened in 2021, is back this year. The theme for this year's event is the art of the French garden. Magic and surprises are coming to the shop with a giant advent calendar and a Father Christmas accompanied by surprising lady rabbits!
